Hannah Townend, Instructor

Hannah Townend is a native of Atlanta, GA, where she began her formal dance training at the age of 12. She started her studies with African dance techniques and later trained in ballet, modern, contemporary, jazz, acrobatics, and anything else that would allow her to explore the limits of human movement. Her love of dance and humidity eventually brought her to Tampa to study at the University of South Florida, where she obtained her BFA and BA degrees in Modern Dance Performance and Communicative Performance Studies respectively. With four years of training under great instructors such as John Parks, Michael Foley, Jeanne Travers, and more, her performance and dance research experience at USF and around the world have shaped her teaching philosophy. She approaches the dance classroom with an open mind, an open heart, and most importantly the belief that dance comes first and foremost from inside out. In addition to her current pursuit of her choreographic interests, Hannah currently teaches dance at various studios in the Tampa Bay area as well as Administrative Coordinator for Brandon Ballet.
